ICC Penalizes Suryakumar Yadav, Haris Rauf, and Farhan for Code of Conduct Breaches During Asia Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced disciplinary actions against three players — India’s Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan’s Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan — for breaching its Code of Conduct during the Asia Cup held in the UAE.

Suryakumar Yadav, who leads India in T20s, was fined 30% of his match fee and given two demerit points. The penalty followed his remarks on the Pahalgam terror attack and his gesture dedicating India’s victory over Pakistan to the Indian armed forces.

In Pakistan’s camp, Sahibzada Farhan received one demerit point for a gun-style celebration after completing his fifty. Haris Rauf faced a heavier punishment — a 30% match fee deduction and two demerit points — for performing a “jet crash” celebration. As Rauf repeated the same act during the September 28 final, the ICC imposed another identical fine and two more demerit points, resulting in his suspension for Pakistan’s next two ODIs against South Africa.

The matter was reviewed by match referee Richie Richardson, who held a hearing after the incidents were reported. All three players were found guilty of misconduct. Although the hearing was completed before the final, the ICC made the penalties public only on Tuesday during its meeting in Dubai
