Livspace: Transforming Homes with Design and Technology
Livspace is a Singapore-based home interior and renovation company that has reimagined how people design and personalize their living spaces. Founded in 2014 by IIT Kanpur alumni Anuj Srivastava, a former Google executive, and Ramakant Sharma, who previously worked at Myntra, Livspace has become one of Asia’s most successful design-tech startups. The company operates in India and Singapore and has raised over $450 million in funding.
Growth and Operations
Livspace began its journey in India in 2014, with headquarters in Bangalore. It offers two main services — Livspace Select for modular furniture and Livspace Vesta for complete home interiors. The brand has established 22 Experience Centres nationwide, including India’s largest in Marathahalli, Bangalore, covering 23,000 sq ft. In 2022, Livspace diversified into commercial interior design, covering offices, retail, and hospitality projects.
In October 2019, Livspace expanded internationally by launching operations in Singapore. It partnered with IKEA Singapore to offer home renovation services and opened pop-up stores in IKEA Tampines and IKEA Alexandra. In 2021, both brands launched a joint renovation studio in Jurong Point, combining design expertise with retail experience.
Innovation and Expansion
Since its inception, Livspace has focused on using technology to simplify interior design. In 2015, it launched its own modular kitchen and wardrobe line, and in 2016, it introduced a home design automation platform that allowed designers and customers to collaborate digitally. The company also opened VR-enabled design studios in major Indian cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai, allowing customers to visualize their homes before construction.
Acquisitions and Funding
Livspace strengthened its ecosystem through acquisitions such as DezignUp, Dwll.in, and YoFloor — startups specializing in design communities and virtual reality tools. These helped enhance its digital platform and customer experience.
Over the years, Livspace has attracted major investors, including Helion Venture Partners, Jungle Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, TPG Growth, Goldman Sachs, and IKEA’s Ingka Group. In 2022, it raised $180 million from KKR, becoming a unicorn valued at over $1 billion.
Recognized among Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Companies” in 2017 and winner of the Red Herring Top 100 Global award in 2018, Livspace continues to set new benchmarks in modern interior design and technology integration.
